1. Boys Basketball defeats Southmoreland, 56-44The Trojans early challenging schedule proved to be a factor as DA got the monkey off their back to notch win number one. Aidan Bushey opened the game with a trey (1 of his team leading 5) which got the Trojans in the flow of the game. Justin Huss returned to the starting rotation and sparked the Trojans on both ends of the floor. Ryan Bushey led the Trojans with 6 steals while dishing out 4 assists. Tanner Nicely and Sam Jones battled the glass for 32 minutes collecting a combined 12 rebounds. Aidan Bushey led all scorers with 27 points & Huss poured in 19 to go along with his 6 steals and 6 rebounds. 2. Football ScholarshipMalcolm M. NASA finds 'water ice' just below the surface of Mars
To assist in the hunt for water on neighboring Mars, NASA has released a "treasure map" of potential ice locations on the red planet. Researchers created the map of the Martian surface which shows where water ice (so-called because other chemical compounds can freeze) is believed to be located. In some places, the ice is as little as 2.5 centimeters below the surface, making it easily accessible to future visitors. Cool colors represent ice closer to the surface, while warm colors are ice deeper down. Today's Number: $37,000,000
When a Texas woman checked her bank account earlier this week, she initially had a little extra money in it to spend on the holiday season.

1. KIND Closet
There is a meeting today in the Audion for any student wishing to help with the KIND Closet. Help is needed after school today from 2:45-6:30 PM and tomorrow from 2:45 until setup is complete. Help is also needed beginning at 8:00 AM Saturday morning. Community Service hours will be provided. This is a great way to earn hours toward your required ten hours of community service while helping the Derry Area Community during this holiday season. This is one of the many things that make our tiny community special.

Despite leading 22-19 at the half, the Trojans Basketball team lost to Riverview 62-51.
Aidan Bushey led Derry Area with 14 points & Tanner Nicely contributed 10 points. Sam Jones battled on the glass for 9 rebounds & Ryan Bushey dished out 7 assists. 3. MS Les Mis Auditions
Any middle school chorus or ensemble student interested in auditioning for this year’s high school musical Les Mis may pick up materials from Mr. Rick in the HS VMR. Time magazine has chosen Greta Thunberg, a Swedish climate crisis activist, as person of the year.
Thunberg, 16, is the youngest individual to be recognized. She gained international attention for excoriating world leaders for their inaction in the climate crisis in a viral speech she made at the UN Climate Action Summit in September.
