By Rebecca Huss I’m going to ask you a series of questions. Depending on how many you can answer confidently, the content of this article will speak for itself. How do I cash this paycheck? Where does this go when I cash it? How do I create a bank account? What are the types of bank accounts available? The most important thing to know about living in this world is finances. Any job available requires you to know financial information. You don’t have to be an accountant or banker to have to know finance. The answers to these questions are important to know for everyday adult life. However, most teenagers aren’t taught the answers to these questions in high school. That means that when high school students graduate and get hired, they are clueless and stressed about what to do and how to do it when it comes to finance. READ MORE TODAY'S QUOTEI actually got a robocall that said my Amazon account had been hacked. Timothy Strother, a Pittsburgh resident, was scammed by a phone call in September. He was instructed to download the AnyDesk app and give the person on the phone remote access to his phone. Before he knew it, his accounts were hacked. Strother said he lost more than $4,000 and he is now working with his bank and credit cards, in an effort to get some of the money back. Bottom Line: Don't ever give anyone remote access to your computer unless it's someone you completely trust... not some guy who randomly calls you. TODAY'S NUMBER: 12 millionThat's about how many deaths across the world are associated with environmental risk factors every year, according to a Pan American Health Organization assistant director. This includes causes like cardiovascular and respiratory diseases due to high temperatures and pollution, consequences from wildfires and droughts, and the health risks associated with poor air quality. Happy Thursday! AND FINALLY...To infinity...

LUNCH TALK(WTAE) - Vaccine advisers to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration voted 17-0 with one abstention Tuesday to recommend emergency use authorization of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine in children ages 5 to 11. Members of the FDA's Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee agreed the benefits of vaccinating younger children appeared to outweigh the risks, but some members appeared troubled about voting to vaccinate a large population of younger children based on studies of a few thousand. TODAY'S QUOTERight now, Mark [Zuckerberg] is unaccountable. Says Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen. Most people might think journalists reporting revelations about one of the world’s most powerful companies was par for the course. Zuckerberg, however, seems to think it’s some sort of vast conspiracy. TODAY'S NUMBER: 16(CNN) - Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton will miss the rest of the World Series after leaving Game 1 with a fractured bone in his leg, according to his team. Morton left the game in the bottom of the third inning after throwing 44 pitches in Houston. The Braves were leading 5-0 when Morton struck out Astros leadoff hitter Jose Altuve with a curve. On his delivery, Morton almost went to the ground and came up with a limp; however, he threw 16 more pitches on his broken leg. Despite the setback, the Braves went on to win the game 6-2. LUNCH TALK(CNN) - A series of news stories dubbed "The Facebook Papers" -- based on thousands of internal company documents -- reveals how the platform has been used to sow political discord and extremism across the world, facilitate human trafficking, push hate speech and misinformation, and organize events like the January 6 insurrection. The documents also reveal that Facebook leaders sometimes knew to some extent the damage being caused by users. Dislike. TODAY'S QUOTEHe should've held it to get as much leverage as possible. Tom Brady said to Peyton Manning last night, talking about the 600th TD ball that a fan just gave up. Brady said he was going to reimburse him with Bitcoin worth just shy of $63,000, PLUS "The Athletic's Greg Auman reports that the Bucs also pledged to give Kennedy $1,000 in credit at the team store, two autographed Brady jerseys, a Brady helmet, an autographed Evans jersey, Evans' game-worn cleats and two season tickets for the rest of this season and next." The fan reported wanted a round of golf with the GOAT. Looks like he will be playing the long game anyway. TODAY'S NUMBER: $250(CNN) - An art collective purchased an original Andy Warhol drawing for $20,000 and is selling it to one lucky buyer for just $250. But there's a catch: The artwork is being offered alongside 999 high-quality forgeries -- and even their creators can't tell them apart. Think Mr. Sabo could spot the real one? AND FINALLY... |
